Having self-control is very hard.  We can not do it alone.  We need Jesus to help us when things get really hard.  Having self-control means that sometimes we need to STOP or say NO to something, but it also means there are times when we need to say YES and DO somethings.  I have a short list of items some ways to help you have that self-control, and when things get hard, ask for Jesus to help you do these things.

Think to your self I WILL:

Control my actions and words - think before I act or speak

Control my temper - take a deep breath and do not act out in anger

Control my desires - respect others and their belongings

Control my body - Sit still and be quiet when appropriate

Control my health -  choose healthy habits

This is just a small list of items even someone who is young can work on with the encouragement of parents, teachers, and of course help from Jesus.

Self-Control Poem

I will always think before I act,

            I’ll practice sitting still.

I will eat the things I really need,

And stop when I am fill.

I will use the best of manners,

And if I get all upset.

I will not burst out with anger,

But will keep my self in check.

My character is what will make

            A leader out of me.

So next time through

            Let’s say it more enthusiastically.
