Compassion means caring enough to do something about someone else’s need (252 Basics Curriculum)

Our heavenly Father has such compassion for us on a daily basis.  He knew our need to be in union with Him, but he also knew it was impossible because of our sinful nature.  So God did the most compassionate thing He could.  He sent His one and only Son to come and die for our sins fulfilling the “need” that we had.  WOW!  How amazing is that?

So what does that mean for us?  Well, we need to keep an eye out for others who also have needs.  If a friend is looking sad, maybe their need is that they need someone to help cheer them up.  Maybe your brother or sister had been really busy and has not had time to clean their room, but they need to have it cleaned before they can go to a special event.  You can help them with that need by having compassion and helping them clean their room.

Maybe there are even people you have never met who have needs that you can join with others to help them out.  There are so many organizations that focus on helping those in need.  HCMA partners with many of these organizations along with creating opportunities within our school to help others.  If you are interested in helping out, just ask Mrs. Jackson!
